Всем привет! На этом канале мы продолжаем учить языки. Точнее, мы их не учим, мы их практикуем. Почему именно "практикуем"? Ну вот вы читаете этот текст на русском. Вы его учите? Нет. Вы его практикуете. Ту же самую мысль перекиньте на иностранный язык. И тогда у вас перестанет сифонить мысль "Я учу английский/испанский/китайский (нужное подчеркнуть) всю жизнь". А вот "я практикую английский всю жизнь" звучит по другому, верно? Русский же мы тоже пракиткуем всю жизнь. Просто не замечаем.
Итак, сегодня последняя часть рассказа А.П. Чехова "Шампанское". Он так же, как и предыдущие части, выходит по методу Ильи Франка, но с некоторым обновлением: теперь после прочтения кусочка на английском и вркаплениями на русском, вам предлагается перечитать этот кусочек, но только на ангийском. Вы же хотите читать всегда в оригинале? Или всегда хотите иметь "костыль" в виде русского? Ответ очевиден.

My wife whispered a great deal more nonsense (Моя жена шептала ещё больше всякой ерунды) to me about her despotic uncle; (мне о своём деспотичном дяде;) about the weakness of mankind in general (о слабостях человечества в целом) and of young wives in particular; (и молодых жён в частности;) about its being our duty to give shelter to all, even great sinners, (о том, что наш долг – давать приют всем, даже великим грешникам,) and so on. (и так далее.) Unable to make head or tail of it, (Не в состоянии понять ничего из этого, буквально: "не мог разобраться, где голова, а где хвост", т.е. ничего не понял,) I put on my new coat and went to make acquaintance with my 'aunt.' (я надел своё новое пальто и пошёл знакомиться с моей "тётушкой.")

The cork flew with a bang out of the second bottle, (Пробка со звуком вылетела из второй бутылки,) and my aunt swallowed half a glassful at a gulp, (и моя тётя залпом выпила полбокала,) and when my wife went out of the room for a moment my aunt did not scruple to drain a full glass.
