There are a couple of other variants of the virus
English has several variants across the globe - Chinese English is a variant of the Standard English.
- Option, alternative, choice - это вариант
Все три слова могут в разных контекстах переводиться как "вариант":
I have no idea what film to watch because there are too many VARIANTS OPTIONS / there is too much CHOICE - я не знаю, какой фильм посмотреть, потому что есть много вариантов / слишком большой выбор
We don’t have any alternative. — У нас нет другого варианта.
We are out of options - У нас нет другого выбора
That’s not an option — Это не вариант.
