Друзья мои, приветствую вас всех! Еще раз хочу сказать, что мой канал - это не уроки английского языка с традиционной схемой : правило - пример! Я сочиняю легкие истории на русском с переводом на английский для тех, кто знает базовый английский и хочет освежить свою память, прочитать сказку или страшилку своим детям и подвести их к пониманию, что в английском языке есть такая информация о правилах грамматики и т.п., которую надо загрузить в свой "личный комп", в свою память! После разговоров о водопадах и каналах, что-то подсказало мне поговорить о пустынях... ведь часто их называют морями песка!
Значит, сегодняшняя тема - пустыни :)) Мы будем говорить о том, что с ними шутить не стоит! С названиями пустынь в английском языке обязательно употребляется определённый артикль, это напоминание снова прозвучит в конце разговора. Сначала история, и в приложении вы также сможете прочитать короткую информацию о самой
большой пустыне в мире, о Сахаре!
История реальная:
У меня есть подруга, её зовут Сьюзан, и она часто рассказывает свои сны.
Недавно во сне она увидела пустыню, похожую на море бесконечных золотых дюн. Имя пустыни было Аль-Гоби. Эта пустыня повидала много приезжих, чьи глаза часто затуманивала иллюзия пустоты. Лишь некоторые люди знали, что под зыбучим песком и палящим солнцем скрывается мир, полный жизни и ярких красок. В этом сне Сьюзан говорила с пустыней Аль-Гоби, которая открыла ей тайну почти всех пустынь мира. Аль-Гоби с гордостью рассказала о скромных цветах, которые были контрастом морю песка. Она сказала и о выносливых кустарниках и травах, корни которых глубоко проникали в засушливую землю в поисках воды. Эти маленькие и скромные растения были символом жизни, процветающей даже в самых суровых условиях. Аль-Гоби упоминала об изящных газелях, неуловимых лисах и могучих хищных птицах, парящих в вышине. Слушая Аль-Гоби, Сьюзан начала видеть пустыню в новом свете. Пустыня выглядела как прекрасный холст, написанный кистью природы. Исключительность пустыни заключалась не в её величии, а в простоте. Новое понимание красоты пустынь заставило Сьюзан читать о них. А после того, как она рассказала о своем сне, я тоже почувствовала очарование пустынь.
В пустынях процветает своя жизнь, а в английском языке существует своё правило употребления определенного артикля с названиями пустынь.
Он всегда ставится перед собственным именем пустыни! Рассказывая о них на английском вы говорите - The Great Victoria Desert,the Thar Desert etc.

I have a friend, her name is Susan, she likes telling me about her fascinating dreams.
Some time ago, in her dream, she saw a desert that looked like a sea of endless golden dunes. The name of it was the Al-Gobi Desert.
The desert had seen many travelers whose eyes were often clouded by the illusion of emptiness. Only a few people knew that under the quicksand and the scorching sun there was a world, full of life and bright colors. In her dream Susan was talking to the Al-Gobi Desert for a long time. The desert revealed the secret of most deserts of the world. The Al-Gobi Desert spoke with pride about beautiful, modest flowers, which made a contrast to the sea of sands. The Al-Gobi Desert spoke of shrubs and many kinds of grasses, the roots of which went into the arid soil in searching for water. Those small and humble plants were a symbol of life thriving even in the hardest conditions. The Al-Gobi Desert talked about graceful gazelles, elusive desert foxes and mighty birds of prey soaring above. Listening to the Al-Gobi's stories, Susan began to see the desert in a different way. It looked like a beautiful canvas painted with a magic brush. The beauty of the desert did not stand out in its grandeur, it was in its simplicity! Susan's new opinion of beautiful deserts made her read about them. As she shared the story of her dream with me, I also felt the charm of deserts and started investigating. I am sure, life in deserts flourishes in its own way, and the English language has its own rule of using the definite article with the names of deserts. It is always placed before the deserts' proper names! So when you talk about deserts say, "the Great Victoria Desert, the Thar Desert etc."

Несколько слов о пустыне Сахара. Мне посчастливилось побывать в Египте, увидеть Сахару и величавые пирамиды. Надеюсь, что если кто-то из вас там не был, обязательно сможет посетить эти места и насладиться завораживающими пейзажами.
In the heart of Africa lies the Sahara Desert.
It extends over more than 9 million square kilometres and is the largest desert in the world. Daytime temperatures can reach over 50 degrees Celsius above zero and easily drop to zero at night. It is a unique desert. The dunes in the Sahara Desert reach the height of 180 meters. However, the desert does not consist only of sand, there are rocks, mountains, and salt marshes.
Its fauna is adapted to extreme conditions. Camels, gazelles, scorpions and snakes live there. Some of them are able to survive without any access to water for long periods of time.
The Sahara Desert is not only a natural attraction of Africa. It attracts lots of tourists from all over the world. The pyramids in Egypt (in the Sahara Desert) are known throughout the world. They are a symbol of the ancient civilization. They are one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
There are about 100 pyramids in the Sahara Desert, but the most famous of them are in Giza - these are the pyramids of Cheops, Khafre, etc. Many pyramids appeared about 4,500 years ago and served as the tombs of the pharaohs.
The Pyramid of Cheops is known as the Great Pyramid. It is the tallest of all the pyramids in the world. Its height is about 138 meters, and its base covers an area of about 53 thousand square meters. The Sahara Desert waits for friends to appreciate its beauty :))
