"Драгон" вывела на орбиту ракета-носитель Falcon-9, детище компании SpaceX Илона Маска. Запуск состоялся в четверг, в 1:03 по Лондону (03:03 по московскому времени) из Космического центра имени Кеннеди во Флориде и транслировался на сайте SpaceX.
Примерно через три минуты после запуска первая ступень ракеты-носителя отделилась и приземлилась на плавучей платформе Just Read the Instructions ("Просто прочти инструкции") в Атлантическом океане. Еще через несколько минут "Драгон" отделился от второй ступени и вышел на орбиту высотой 575 км.
После этого астронавты смогли увидеть Землю через прозрачный купол. Этот купол-иллюминатор, расположенный под носовым обтекателем, заменил шлюзовую дверь, которую обычно используют на аппарате "Драгон" для стыковки с МКС. Однако на этот раз стыковки не будет, поэтому шлюз не понадобится.
Туристы проведут на орбите следующие три дня. По окончании миссии капсула должна приводниться в Атлантическом океане.
Dragon has put into orbit the Falcon-9 launch vehicle, the brainchild of Elon Musk's SpaceX. The launch took place Thursday at 1:03 London time (03:03 Moscow time) from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida and was broadcast on the SpaceX website.
About three minutes after launch, the first stage of the launch vehicle separated and landed on the floating platform Just Read the Instructions in the Atlantic Ocean. A few minutes later, the Dragon separated from the second stage and entered an orbit with an altitude of 575 km.
After that, the astronauts were able to see the Earth through the transparent dome. This porthole dome, located under the nose cone, replaces the airlock commonly used on the Dragon to dock with the ISS. However, there will be no docking this time, so no gateway is needed.
Tourists will spend the next three days in orbit. At the end of the mission, the capsule should splash down in the Atlantic Ocean.
