Стандартные слова-описания, которым учат в школе - beautiful, handsome, smart, hard-working - разумеется, очень полезны, но их бывает недостаточно. Сегодня я покажу вам сленговые и разговорные выражения для описаний характеров.

Положительные описания

• funny, has a great/amazing sense of humor, hilarious - смешной, уморительный

I love listening to his stories, he's got such an amazing sense of humor.

• a people person - душа компании

I'm not really a people person. I'm more of an introvert.

• a social butterfly - дословно "социальная бабочка": очень общительный человек, у которого много друзей и знакомых

"It seems like she knows everyone at this party. Wow, she's a real social butterfly".

• generous, giving - щедрый

Their family was so generous with me. I'm really grateful.

• witty, quick-witted - остроумный

She is my favorite character from this show, she is so witty.

• trustworthy, reliable - надёжный

Do you think this company is reliable?

• laid-back - спокойный, расслабленный

I used to be very anxious, but I've become more laid-back.

• down-to-earth - реалистичный, приземлённый, без каких-то понтов, простой

I prefer being friends with people who are more down-to-earth.

• a go-getter - инициативный, достигающий целей

I wish I could be a go-getter like him.

Отрицательные описания

• can't take a joke - не понимает шуток

I don't understand why none of them can take a joke.

• grumpy - ворчливый, сердитый

He's so grumpy for a child!

• big-headed - дословно "большеголовый": высокомерный, заносчивый

She's become quite big-headed after getting that job.

• pig-headed - дословно "свиноголовый": упрямый

Don't be so pig-headed. Try listening to others for a change.

• self-centered, narcissistic, conceited - самовлюблённый

"It's so difficult to talk to conceited people. They never listen to what you're saying".

• nasty - противный, неприятный

I used to think she was nasty, but later found out she was a nice person.

• sneaky - хитрый, подлый, пронырливый

I don't trust them. They seem very sneaky, and like they want something.

• quick-tempered, hot-tempered, hot-headed, has a short fuse - вспыльчивый

My sister is too hot-headed, you can't talk to her about anything!

• a big mouth - дословно "большой рот": болтливый
