Hi guys, long time, no ... posting 😐 sorry about that! As we're back on track, we would like to remind you (and ourselves) that Rome wasn't built in one day. Or in other words it takes time and by "it" we mean everything. Whatever you're thinking of achieving, it's gonna take time. If you're here, you're at least a tiny bit interested in languages. Maybe you've been learning English for a long time and feel like there's no progress. Or maybe you want to take up a new language and have no idea where to start. Firstly, set your goal, go over every detail and make up your mind. Secondly, find (new) ways to reach your goal, seek like-minded people, look for teachers/mentors, speaking activities/clubs, etc Thirdly, don't give up 😀 such a cliche, right? But makes more sense as you progress and see results of your hard work. Hello beautiful people 🌸 As it's summer in all its glory it's high time we talked about vacation (or holiday if you prefer BrEng😎). What is vacation anyway? Vacation is a time when people do not go to work or school and are free to do whatever they want. Most people associate this time with travelling. Cause who doesn't like travelling? You'll be suprised but some people are not as keen on travelling as one might think. Or some people can't really afford to go somewhere especially abroad (it is pricey at times). So this is where staycation comes in handy! Yes, you heard us right 😄 Staycation is basically the vacation you have at home or without leaving the place you live in (usually a town or city). Sounds a bit sad for people who are used to travelling to different places. But hold on, this is not the saddest thing you might hear today as apparently there is now a ... workcation. Work + vacation is a working holiday. Although don't start crying just yet. Workcation combines the travel part of a usual holiday and remote work. So basically you've done your change of scenery but you're still on the clock. What kind of vacation do you prefer? Do you need to get away from everything and everyone (the farther, the better)? Hi everyone, we'd like to talk to you about the thing that almost everybody wants to get rid of. No, it's not your habit of binge watching TV series (yes, we know, no judgement though). It's accent aka what people hear when you speak a foreign language. It seems like Russians might be extra hard on themselves for having it. Meanwhile foreigners (for example, French people speaking English) don't usually tend to care as much. We provide some interesting insights in the episode - you need to work on your pronunciation to the extent that people understand what you mean - don't try to sound like somebody else, be yourself What are your thoughts on accent? Hey guys, language enthusiasts here 😊 In one of the episodes (the 4th one) on our podcast Zooming Through Khaos we touched on the big HOW to learn a language outside the classroom. If you have classes once/twice or even three times a week, good for you! If you don't have any classes, you just watch an occasional film here and there or might do something on an app, then good for you too! The point is if you really want to master a language, you need to integrate the language into your life. Unless you live somewhere where the language is often spoken and you yourself have a chance to speak, it might get tricky. So what should you do? Go to YouTube.com and watch something you like in a language you're learning. Interested in cooking? Find a blogger who explains how to cook stuff. You'll learn lots of words about cooking and might try out some dishes yourself. Interested in reading? There is an insane amount of people on YouTube talking about books. Interested in sport/yoga/stretching? Find influencers who show how to do different exercises or talk about nutrition. These are just a couple of examples. YouTube is your oyster 😉 * Sidenote - first it might be hard for you to understand native speakers, then try non-native speakers. They're just as good. What kind of things are you into?
