The fairy tale «The Little Humpbacked Horse», written by P.P. Yershov and published in 1834, became one of the most significant works in Russian literature of the XIX century. This work evoked a mixed reaction from contemporaries. A.S. Pushkin highly appreciated the work of the young author, while V.G. Belinsky expressed sharp criticism, noting the lack of artistic merit.
