🍍The concept of balance is bullshit. Pick your priorities based on your values. Then make them priorities. Then be the best at those things. Give them your all. Then be OK if you are not fully achieving everything else. Know that what you are going after is the best for YOU, then turn off the noise of other’s opinions and get after it. Guess what? You WON’t be able to do everything. And that is perfectly fine.

DV visit number 6/7 in 125 weeks: I led a tour of my tiny Air Force station for Congressman Kahele, side by side with the Marine CO and back up from HQ. Frankly, we nailed it. The team and I got to showcase all the goodness we are doing, growing dunes, removing invasive plants, cleaning up an old bombing range with UXO removal, out planting native ones, protecting endangered birds, and restoring a native wetland. It keeps us gainfully employed. This job has put me in scenarios that I never thought I would be as a Brigadier General. I have been thrown so far outside of my comfort zone I can’t even see where it was. I march on, hands shaking, heart pounding, don’t like them see you quiver, put your brave face on and go. This job has been my biggest challenge so far and yet somehow, I am making it. You never know what you are capable of until you give it your all and try.
