The first 24 chapters were originally published in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine under the title Steel Ball Run. Despite the similarity of the characters' names, there was no confirmation that the work refers to JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, but after the transfer of publication to Ultra Jump magazine in 2005, the manga was officially recognized as the seventh part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which takes place in an alternative universe. The release of the story continued until 2011. A total of 95 chapters were released, then collected into 24 manga volumes. Steel Ball Run is not a continuation of the previous parts, but is a restart of the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure universe and precedes JoJolion, its action is an alternate reality of the first three parts - Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency and Stardust Crusaders
