LCC vs Camberwell
OK, before I write anything, I gotta say, my knowledge is already a few years old, and it’s LCC-sided, so if I’m wrong, let any Camberwell students and alumni correct me in the comments. Also the pandemic and studying remotely is a whole other topic.
That said, I’m going to start with the choice I was faced. I had 3 days to decide and very limited information in the open net. All I could find were some photos from the final exhibitions. That is because the majority of student blogs are on wordpress and the info is on moodle, a closed uni platform. I stumbled upon one blog that was on Blogspot, and it was from an LCC student. I think it described her final year projects. Finally I could read and have an idea of what the students are actually doing. I also looked at LCC facilities and they looked a lot like my Moscow art school (BHSAD). I didn’t find a Camberwell blog, so I chose LCC.
The other thing I looked at were the alumni pages of both colleges. Camberwell alumnus were definitely illustrators with some percentage of fine artists, and as for LCC Illustration and Visual Media Course, there was a wide range of creatives starting from graphic and surface designers to illustrators and fine artists. I wasn’t sure what niche I was going to pick, so I picked LCC as I thought that such a variation is going to help me choose later on.
