A Doctor's Dilemma

That’s a dilemma close to Trolley problem. You have a choice to save 5 by killing one(and get +4) or do nothing and have 5 corpses instead of one. And also there is a variation, there you push a fat man on the rails. That’s changing opinion about the case, because it is a direct action. In our dilemma the action or inaction is not giving patient 6 medical care. You can consider it as an action, because you should do it since you are a doctor. Or you can consider it as inaction, because you’re doing nothing.

Choice one (Doing nothing). Do as Kant said. You can’t do anything with life of a human being since it is invaluable. The patient 6 is living as it should be by nature and patients 1-5 die as it is their destiny.

Choice two. Utilitarian. Saving 5 is more than saving 1, so you should act. Death of 5 people is worse than death of 1(Absolute countings). The drawback is that you’re becoming a murderer.

Choose wise
