Life is full of pain, they say. True. There's pain. Sometimes there's so much of it, it feels like you're never going to cope with it. It's too overwhelming. When this whirlwind of emotions floods you wreaking havoc, there isn't much you can do. And in fact, there's no use doing anything. It's just another storm swirling through your life. It might be that this one is more devastating than others. But it, too, will pass.
The best way to get out of any emotional hell is by going through it. Grief and pain are no exception. Face it. Certain feelings are an inevitable part of life. So there's no need to hide them or from them. Consider them lodgers. Make room for them. Let them stay as long as they need to. Don't shoo them away. But once they pack their bags to go, say goodbye and let them go with a blessing.
Jamie Anderson once gave the best definition of grief I've ever come across. Here it is: 'Grief, I've learned, is really just love. It's all the love you want to give, but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.' If it's okay to love, then it's okay to grieve. Don't feel ashamed or bad about it
