F.E.A.R. Four letters that hold you back and hinder your progress. One short word that stands in your way on the road to success.

I had childhood trauma. When I was 7, I took up dancing. It was a disaster. I was no good. In fact, I was so bad that the trainer asked my parents to never bring me back again.

Now I know I just needed more time and that my trainer was a complete moron. But back then I thought dancing wasn't my thing. And I lived with this thought for 25 years wishing I were less clumsy, more graceful and had more control over my body.

And then I read 'Still Alice' by Lisa Genova. A poignant story about a Harvard professor who is diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of 50. Her life, career and marriage are falling apart while she's doing her best to fight the disease that's eroding everything she loves. There's a line in the book that I just can't get out of my head.

"I have Alzheimer's. What's your f...ing excuse?"

So what if fear doesn't exist anywhere except in our minds? And what if we keep making up excuses to avoid taking that decisive step forward? Life is too short to let fear take over you.

Last week I had my first dancing class in 25 years. It went well. I can't say I'm no longer scared of looking awkward, but I'm determined to keep going. If speaking English is something you dread, come join my live streams every Saturday and Sunday at 6 p.m. (MSK) It's time you looked that fear of yours in the face and took the first step forward in its direction ❄️
