1.BEGIN, START+ Gerund (Ving): процесс: It started raining.
+Infinitive:a)I began to feel cold. b)подл.-неодуш.сущ.: The barometer began to fall. c) после времен Соntinuous: It's starting to snow.
2.GO ON+ Gerund:
продолжение той же деятельности:They went on laughing.
GO ON + Infinitive:
смена деятельности в ходе процесса: After discussing the exams they went on to talk about the party.
3.STOP: stop+Gerund: завершение процесса: She stopped crying and smiled.
stop+Infinitive: с инфинитивом цели ("чтобы"):He stopped to talk. (Он остановился, ЧТОБЫ поговорить.
4. LIKE: like+ Gerund:
нравиться ( о
привычке): I like dancing.
like+ Infinitive:a)считать полезным, нужным: I like TO get up early.
b) о чем-то конкретном: I like to swim in this lake.
5.LOATHE (не выносить): loathe+ Gerund: (в общем): I loathe travelling by air.
loathe+Infinitive: (в частности): I loathe to do this dirty work.
6.HATE: hate+Gerund (ненавидеть): I hate travelling by public transport.
hate+Infinitive ("coжалеть в извинениях"): I hate to trouble you, but I have to tell you something unpleasant.
7.REMEMBER: remember+ Gerund:вспоминать о прошлом:I remember seeing you somewhere.
remember+Infinitive: вспомнить, не забыть: Remember to lock the door.= (Don't forget to do it).
8.FORGET: forget+Gerund ("забыть, не помнить"):He forgot calling me, but I reminded him.
forget+Infinitive "забыть= не сделать" : Don't forget (=remember) to buy some bread.
9.REGRET:
regret+Gerund (coжалеть о прошлых действиях): I regret saying that you were mistaken.
regret + Infinitive ( к сожалению, в извинениях): I regret to tell you that you have failed your exam.
10.TRY: try+ Gerund:"пробовать" :Try jogging in the mirning, it might help.
try+Infinitive:"пытаться, прилагать усилия":Try to get home by noon.
11.PREFER: prefer+Gerund: в общем, (привычка):
I prefer walking to cycling.
prefer+Infinitive (частный случай): I prefer to wait here.
12.MEAN: mean+Gerund ("значить"):Being a parent means to be responsible.
mean+ Infinitive ("намеревпться, хотеть"):She means to buy a new car soon.
13.BE AFRAID OF: be afraid+Gerund: бояться, т.к. может случиться что-то плохое: I don't like dogs. I'm afraid of being bitten.
be afraid+Infinitive:не хотеть что-то делать, ибо это неприятно или опасно:He was afraid to go to the police as he knew they would hold him.
14.CONSIDER: consider+Gerund:"размышлять": I consider going to France.
consider+Infinitive: "считать": I consider him to be clever.
15.REMIND: remind+ Gerund+of:напоминать о чем-то прошлом:She reminded me of missing the date.
remind+Infinitive:напомнить что -либо сделать: She reminded me to feed the dog.
16.WANT: want+Gerund:
"надо что-либо сделать: The windows want cleaning.
want + Infinitive:"хотеть": I want to eat.
17. RECOMMEND:
recommend+Gerund:(без обькта): I recommend drinking it.
recommend+Infinitive: (с обьектом): I recommend HER to drink it.
