A recent incident off the coast of Newfoundland has drawn the attention of maritime services and rescue teams. The vessel MSC BALTIC III, en route from Montreal to Corner Brook, North Carolina, lost control and ran aground. The incident occurred approximately 12 nautical miles from Bay of Islands, necessitating the emergency evacuation of all crew members. A distress signal was received by the marine communication and traffic service in Port aux Basques, which immediately triggered active responses from rescue services. Given the adverse weather conditions and challenging sea state, the vessel was unable to anchor securely and ultimately ran aground in Wild Cove, located west of Lark Harbor. AIS tracking data indicates that MSC BALTIC III was on course for its destination when the emergency arose.
