Project 360 is an environmental volunteer project launched in Eastern Siberia in 2011. It is considered one of the most widespread environmental volunteer projects in Russia. Over the past eight years, about 144,000 people have become volunteers for Project 360. Their efforts have removed and disposed of about 4,500 tons of garbage in various regions of the Russian Federation.
Traditionally, the main event of the 360 project – volunteer cleanup on the shores of Lake Baikal – takes place in early September.
The 360 project is a direct continuation of the All-Russian volunteer ecological eco-marathon “360 minutes for Baikal”, launched in 2011.
Already in 2012, the campaign became larger in scale, thanks to the increase in the number of participants and the expansion of its geography: in particular, members of the environmental organizations “Great Baikal Trail” and “Let’s Protect Baikal Together”, students, and residents of different regions of Russia joined in.
In 2017, declared the Year of Ecology and the 100th anniversary of the Russian nature reserve system, the 360 Minutes campaigns were included in the official events of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation[11]. By that time, the project launched in Siberia had transformed into the All-Russian Ecological Marathon 360 Minutes.
Now the eco-marathon is held in Yakutia, Irkutsk, Altai and in several republics.
