I. COMAP INTELIDRIVE DCU MARINE.
The ComAp InteliDrive DCU (ID-DCU) Marine engine controller is provided with the ComAp ID-RPU (Redudant Protection Unit). The ID-RPU is mounted directly to ID-DCU box and designed for marine applications only.
The ID-RPU has the terminals to connect the secondary RPM pickup sensor and will detect the overspeed failure on running engine. It is possible to connect the one RPM pickup sensor to ID-DCU and to ID-RPU in parallel.
To perform the overspeed test, switch in ON (1) position the OT dip-switch to activate the overspeed test function (the overspeed limit will reduce to 50%).
II. VOLVO PENTA CU 2500 Engine Control System.
The CU 2500 is the electronic control unit for control and monitoring of diesel engines used as propulsion engines and gensets.
To perform the overspeed test, the CU 2500 has the special RPM-test mode. In test mode the overspeed setpoint (typically 1725 rpm) is reduced to Nominal Setpoint (typically 1500 rpm).
Follow these steps to enter the RPM-test mode
1 - Enter the INFORMATION VIEW by pressing INFO (button 8) for 2 seconds.
2 - In the Information View, press and hold LAMPTEST (button 7) for 10 seconds until a beep is heard.
The overspeed setpoint is now reduced to the Nominal setpoint. The bottom left status field displays "RPM TEST" to indicate and remind of this. in propulsion systems, the overspeed setpoint is reduced to the Max speed setpoint.
Now start engine to perform the overspeed test.
The test automatically times out after 4 minutes. To leave the test earlier, press LAMPTEST once in the Info view.
It is not possible to enter the RPM TEST mode unless the control unit is in the Ready state.
III. AUTO MASKIN DCU 410E MARINE PRO.
The DCU 410e Marine Pro is the engine monitoring and control unit.
To perform the overspeed test, press MENU button to access the menu:
And then enter the SETTINGS:
Note that the settings menu has two pages. Select and activate the ENGINE OVERSPEED TEST mode:
In this mode the engine can be tested for overspeed by lowering the overspeed setpoint to 90% of the nominal (max) speed.
Make sure the engine is not running. The overspeed test mode cannot be entered on a running engine.
Now, start the engine.
If the overspeed shutdown has been disabled in the configuration, then this test will NOT generate a shutdown.
The overspeed test times out after 5 minutes, or after performing the test. The test can also be turned off by selecting the menu item again.
IV. LINDENBERG ANLAGEN Engine Monitoring System MEC24.
The monitoring system for Diesel engines MEC24 consists of the following components:
• MEC24-A Start-Stop-system with combined alarm system.
• MEC24-S Safety system with combined emergency stop system.
• MEC24-H display and operation unit for the engine room.
• Option: MEC24-B display and operation unit for the bridge.
• Option: MEC24-A COM (Start/Stop-system with combined alarm system MEC24-A withintegrated COM module for Modbus communication).
МЕС24-А: The MEC24-A Start/Stop Alarm system controls the starting and stopping of the diesel engine and deals with all the required monitoring functions including automatic stops for overspeed.
МЕС24-S: The MEC24-S Safety and Emergency Stop System operates together with the MEC24-A Start/Stop Alarm System and makes all the safety functions available which are specified by the classification societies for monitoring systems for diesel engines.
For regular checking, both systems are fitted with an overspeed test function which is activated via a separate input. By activation of the relevant inputs, the Overspeed-Limit will be reduced acc. the following list.
For this test the engine must be in operation.
