Transparent media facade - acrylic LED facade, which differs from conventional rack models in a high percentage of transparency. Such media facades are often installed on windows and other glass structures. The low weight and thickness of the blocks are also advantages for mounting on lightweight structures with low bearing capacity.
To understand what kind of media facade is needed in each specific situation, let's look at what models of acrylic media facades GTLight can offer today.
Outdoor and indoor
The first thing to decide is the installation location. For indoor installation, we have developed interior acrylic media facades, for outdoor installation it is necessary to use outdoor transparent media facades. Each group of models has its own common features.
Acrylic media facade for the outdoor:
- equipped with a protective mask, which increases the image contrast, UV resistance and allows you to expand the operating temperature range up to -40…+120℃;
- Reliably protected from water ingress by a reinforced rubber seal and equipped with a waterproof power supply;
- Available in black or light gray for maximum building integration.
Acrylic media facade for the indoor:
- 80% transparent and suitable for mounting on showcases or other full glass surfaces;
- can be made in the format of an ultra-thin block, or a film with a thickness of no more than 3 mm;
- available in rigid form, as well as in the form of flexible modules to create structures of complex shape.
With front and side illumination
Frontal acrylic facades are more popular. However, GTLight and several other companies offer models with side glow. And our experience in installing media facades suggests that "side" blocks have a number of advantages that can be decisive when choosing for a number of projects.
The most obvious advantage of side-glow acrylic media facades is maximum transparency. Side-glow diodes take up less space on the printed circuit board, which means less light is blocked by the media facade. For comparison, media facades with the same pixel pitch will have a transparency coefficient of 60% for the front model, and 85% for the side model, respectively.
The method and place of installation of diodes on lamellas give another advantage to media facades with side lighting. They are more resistant to damage.
But the viewing angle of the frontal transparent media facades is greater. For side models, part of the corner is blocked if you look at the screen from top to bottom. If the media facade is located above the eye level of the viewers, then this indicator does not matter, since the view from the bottom point is the same in both models.
Pixel pitch of acrylic media facades
Since transparent media facades are designed to be installed, as a rule, at a smaller distance from the audience than conventional slatted ones, we offer models with a small pixel pitch.
The smallest pitch for today is presented in our company and is 3.91 - 7.81 mm. From such blocks, we recommend assembling screens into windows and showcases located on the first floors of buildings and in the shopping center. Thanks to the high resolution, the image will be well perceived even from a small distance.
For installation at a greater distance, models with pixel pitches are suitable: 7.8 - 7.8 mm, 5.2 - 10.42 mm, 10.42 - 10.42 mm.
Media facade blocks are presented in 2 sizes. The choice depends on the desired dimensions of the screen. If the dimensions are a multiple of 1 meter, then blocks of 1x1 m are an excellent option. The installation time for a screen made of meter blocks is reduced, but if the dimensions of the facade are not a multiple of a meter, then such models will not work. For this case, we offer blocks with a size of 500x1000 mm.
When choosing a transparent media facade, pay attention to the refresh rate. The higher this value, the better the image quality will be. Refresh rate is especially important for acrylic models, because a high refresh rate guarantees no flicker and the image looks especially impressive, as if floating in the air. Equipment with characteristics less than 1920 Hz is not even worth considering. In our lineup, this is the minimum refresh rate. There are models in which this parameter is 3840 Hz or more.
Flexible or rigid
Separately, it is worth mentioning flexible transparent screens. This is a special category of equipment, which is ordered almost exclusively for small areas and complex structures. A flexible LED screen is an option for creating art objects, image advertising and getting a wow effect.
We can offer several options for flexible screens. One of the most popular models is transparent blocks 1000x500 mm, from which you can “roll up” a cylindrical screen with a diameter of 640 mm or more.
The cost of flexible screens significantly exceeds the price of rigid models, so if there is no need to create structures with complex configurations, you should not overpay. With regard to other characteristics, flexible screens are almost the same as rigid ones. Flexible screen pixel pitch from 3.9 to 15.6 mm. Brightness from 500 to 6000 cd/m2. The transparency of such models is more than 80%. We can safely recommend them for creating, for example, LED columns. Moreover, due to transparency, such a column will look hollow, and the image will seem to float inside it.
Media facade block weight
When choosing which media facade to buy, you should take into account the bearing capacity of the structure on which it is supposed to be mounted. With glass surfaces, this ability is usually small, and every kilogram of load can be decisive. For GTLight transparent media facades, the weight of the blocks varies from 8 to 16 kg. A difference of 2 times can be an important argument in favor of one or another option.
