Microphone mounts. What are they used for?

The mounts perform an important function when working with microphones. Since the devices come in different types and models, respectively, the fasteners on the market are presented in various variations. The choice of attachment depends on the type of microphone, the place where the sound is being worked on (for example, outdoors or indoors), as well as the conditions on which the microphone will be held (on a stand or on a table).

We suggest you find out what kind of microphone holders are, what are their features and where they are most often used. Let's start with the first type:

Universal
These are the most popular holders that are used to use in different situations. If we consider the desktop mount, they are convenient to use during broadcasts on radio stations, when working in a recording studio, during public speeches, conferences. Universal holders are great for bloggers.

In general, mounts are needed to get rid of the vibration that comes from the rack. Universal holders are conveniently and easily assembled, customized for microphones. Strong fixation of the device allows you to remove noise, interference, reduce vibration and make human speech clearer. Mounts are usually created in the form of a leg holder that are adjustable if necessary. The structure itself is not very heavy and quite flexible. Can be used with wired and wireless devices.

“Spider” mounts
The mount is in most cases used for microphones in professional studios where vocalists come to record. To record, you need to remove all interference and unnecessary noise to the maximum, so that the vocals turn out to be clean at the output. The design of this type allows you to remove vibrations emanating, for example, from tapping the rhythm with your foot to a musical beat. In addition, the "Spider" type rack is stable and does not pass mechanical pressure.

The principle of operation is that the audio signal transmitter is compressed in the middle of the structure. The transmitter is hanging on an elastic band. It, in turn, does not miss vibrations that may come from external sources.

From the point of view of the material, the mount is plastic, except fasteners. The "spider“ effectively compresses a microphone with a diameter of up to 50 mm.

For its microphones, Oktava has created several shock absorbers (spider holders) that are ideal for different devices. Among them:

Shock absorber AM-60/27
The holders have connectors for attaching to the microphone stand — measuring ⅝ inches, as well as an adapter for ⅜ inches. The shock absorber is suitable for Oktava microphones such as MK-105, 115, 119, 219, 220, 319, 419, 519, ML 52-02, 53, MKL-4000. The diameter of the seat is 48/53 mm.

Shock absorber AM-50
Similar features. The shock absorber is suitable for mounting the following Oktaveamicrophones: MK-220, 319, 53, MKL-4000.

Shock absorber AM-20
Used to mount microphones: MK-012, 101, 102, 103, 104. The diameter of the seat is 20/21 mm.

Shock absorber AM-65/27
The diameter of the seat is 65/27mm. The mount is used when working with microphones: MKL-5000, 111, 112.

Clothespins
The clothespin type holders are ideal for attaching the microphone to any surface, regardless of position. In addition, the shock absorber is easily attached to musical instruments. The design is lightweight, compact, quickly removed and put on. Most often, it is used when working with lavalier microphones.

"Crane"
The stand of this type is flexible and can be easily changed to meet the needs of the performer. The floor shock absorber is adjustable both vertically and horizontally.

The crane stand is mainly used for shooting instruments, orchestra. You will also need a mount if you want to sound a guitar, a choral group, a drum kit. Vocalists like to use the “crane" during the performance of compositions.

In the design there are wheels designed for convenient movement of the stand. In addition, there is a counterweight in the crane holders, which you can adjust yourself if the microphone is heavy.

Pantograph
"Scissors" — this is the name of the mechanism that is used in the construction of the pantograph.

You can immediately recall the table lamps, as an example. The shock absorber is attached to the table with a clamp. The mechanism absorbs vibrations. The microphone is fixed on the other side.

The pantograph is more often used during broadcasts at studios, podcasts, and radio stations.
