Фразу "What time is it?" изучают чуть ли не на первых уроках английского. Но всегда ли time означает "время"?
На самом деле всё намного интереснее...
before somebody's time - 1) до чьего-либо рождения, 2) если вы что-то делаете (например, стареете) раньше чем это происходит с другими людьми

have a lot of/no time for somebody/something - любить, восхищаться/не любить, не выносить кого-то, что-то.
I have a lot of time for Katy, I think she’s great.

give somebody a hard time - не давать кому-либо жизни, много критиковать

Ever since I missed the goal, the other players have been giving me a hard time.
make good time - в поездках вы путешествуете быстро (быстрее чем ожидали)
We made good time and were at the hotel by lunchtime.
We were making good time through the foothills.
mark time - 1) шагать, топтаться на месте, 2) выжидать
To march in place, the command is “Mark time, march”.
She's just marking time until she goes off to university.
big time - сильно, в большой степени
"How was the interview?" "Terrible, I messed up big time."
