So, today a review of Crimean wines from the winery "Manor Perovsky" and their negotiant project Pithos. Seven positions were tasted, which were personally presented by the chief winemaker Galin Milkov. My grades below are correspond on the Vivino scale. Looking ahead a bit, I’ll say: the ratings in Vivino do not reflect the real quality of the wine in terms of the winemaker’s work. They reflect the “pleasure” derived from this wine. And the conditional Sassicaia with 100 points from Parker can get me 4/5. This will be the next post
Sparkling wine Blanc de Blancs (Manor Perovsky )
White Chardonnay & Chardonnay 2018 (Pithos)
White Sauvignon Blanc & Chardonnay 2018 (Pithos)
Pink Pino Noir & Syrah 2018 (Pithos)
Red Pinot Noir 2018 (Manor Perovsky )
Red Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon & Bastardo 2017 (Pithos)
Red Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2016 (Pithos)
Winery "Manor Perovsky" was founded in 1890 and still wine is aged in a cellar built 130 years ago. Pithos is a relatively new wine negotiant who purchases grapes from Crimean vineyards in the Sevastopol region and produces wine. Pithos is a Greek vessel for storing grain, olive oil and wine. Go!
Sparkling wine Blanc de Blancs. Produced by the classical method with exposure to lees for 24 months. The aroma is very fresh and acidic, floral-citrus. The taste is clearly felt lemon peel and grapefruit in the aftertaste. Muffin and vanilla, traditional for the classical method, appear a little later, when the wine "breathes". 4/5
Chardonnay & Chardonnay 2018. Fresh and Mineral. In the depths of the aroma notes of floral honey appear. On the palate are white apples and a little pear. The finish is quite short with a pleasant sweetness. A good option for summer thirst quenching. 4/5
Sauvignon Blanc & Chardonnay 2018. Sauvignon dominates in aroma and taste. A lot of citrus fruits, plus minerality (melt water, stones). The taste is quite strong bitterness, which remains until the end. 4/5
Pino Noir & Syrah 2018. The rose turned out to be very dense and rich with strawberry flavors traditional for pink wine, but not fresh, but even closer to jam. Plus, there are a lot of red berries that transform from flavor to taste and “live” in wine until the last sip. 4,5 / 5
Pinot Noir 2018. The undisputed favorite of the whole tasting. Fresh and graceful Pinot Noir without aging in oak. The aroma has a lot of wild berries. The taste reveals raspberries and cranberries. Slightly tannin. The ideal option is to drink the whole bottle alone and not notice how you did it. If we return to the estimates, then this wine at a professional tasting would get a maximum of 85-86 points. I give him 4.5 / 5, even 4.7 which corresponds to approximately 97 points.
Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon & Bastardo 2017. Very powerful and dense with a dominant Cabernet. Blackcurrant, black pepper, smoked meat. Oak tones are also here. Specifically, this bottle was bottled two months ago. Therefore, the wine still has to lie down. This is not only my opinion, but also by Galin Milkov. That's why 2017 to the collection for exposure. I advise! 4/5
Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot 2016. Do not look at the photo where 2015 is indicated. We drank exactly 2016, there were simply no labels suitable and we were brought what was. We are not offended :) The wine is very bright, berry and spicy. Enveloping, velvety tannins. Rounded. Cabernet does not pull focus over itself. Although I don’t like Cabernet, I really liked this option. Wine is suitable, both for accompaniment to meat, and simply as a meditative option in itself. 4,5 / 5
To summarize, I can say that all these wines deserve attention. Honestly, I forgot to clarify whether they will be presented in stores or only for the HoReCa segment. Will wait!
