How best to remember and prepare for the exam. Part 2.

Now we are moving directly to the techniques that help to remember better - these are the internal aspects, which, remember, work fully only if you have organized external.

How to prepare for the exam? My favorite method was to write summaries of the questions and then, on the last day or two, repeat them. It was possible to make cheat sheets with unforgettable material from such notes and thus to provide calmness - and this is a condition of good work of a brain:) During the current training, which really requires a lot of material to be memorized, I noticed that such training is not the most effective. The problem is that the material to be recorded moves from book to book and is not delayed in the head. Of course, something remains, but it is not enough to get a "credit". The only thing that remains in our minds is how unfortunate it is that we have understood and learned. How can we make this process the least energy-intensive and most efficient?

Follow a certain memory technique. German researchers suggest following the rule of 3 steps during the first acquaintance with the material. The first step is to select a short section of text, from which you can remember the main ideas at once. It can be a single paragraph, paragraph or page - who has what abilities. Once it has been read, it should be reproduced in your own words. This can be done orally or in writing. This is how I now make up my notes: I read the section and wrote it down without looking into the text and reproduced it in my German words. The second step is to reproduce the text again and immediately check whether you did it right (this is the third step). Most interestingly, this technique does not require a lot of energy, because you still remember the material well enough and its reproduction is not very stressful. This technique allows you to immerse the information in the operative memory, but not long-term. The information is placed there by repeating itself.

Correct repetition. If you are preparing for an exam in a few days, be sure that most of the information will disappear from your head in about the same number of days that you spent on training, if not more quickly. That's why it's important to remember regularly. There are different methods of such repetition. For example, Way Eight: Repeat the reading after 8 hours, then after 8 days and after 8 weeks. For my holey brains, however, this method was not effective enough. I have noticed that most of the information is forgotten within an hour of reading. As it turned out, it wasn't just me who had such problems. Most people forget 34% of the information after half an hour of reading, and the rest within a few days. That's why you can't miss the rules of the previous paragraph. Personally, I read the material, then write it down in my own words, before closing the summary, I read it again. Then the next day before I start the new material, I repeat what I did yesterday, as well as one of the paragraphs I taught a week ago. This system works, but it's pretty boring.

What will help to diversify repetition and preparation for the exam?
Tell another person in your own words. Telling in your own words is the most effective way to remember.
Especially if you don't tell yourself at once, but during the day and to someone else. Telling yourself and at once is for a start, and then during the day - to someone else. Of course, it's ideal to tell another student, for example, rather than a tired husband who comes home from work. You can tell a little child. It will grow, if not very clever, then talkative:) In any case, if you find something interesting to say - be sure to mark and tell.

Unusual ways to remember. Students have come up with many ways to remember: to jump on the ball and at the same time to shout out foreign words that you learn, to sing the text that you need to learn, to record audio-text and listen to it before the exam. To memorize the lists, you can arrange separate items throughout the room. The first one is on the chair, the second one is on the sofa. Even more effective is to tie words together with an association or a picture. It is possible to connect the necessary words with the invented history or to invent unusual abbreviations. This requires creativity, but works very effectively.
That's like it's all for today!

Now we know how best to remember and prepare for the exam. And what means do you use if you need to learn large amounts of material?
