However, in order for the activity (labor, social, game, sports) in which the pupils are involved to have an educational value, it is necessary to form socially valuable motives for their activity. If they are highly moral and socially significant, then the activity, in the process of which the deeds are committed, will have a great educational effect.
In the process of development of social qualities, it is necessary to combine the organization of various socially useful activities with the purposeful formation of consciousness of pupils by means of a word, moral education. The verbal impact must be supported by useful practical actions, positive social experience in communication and joint activity with other people.
Unfortunately, the experience of effective civic education in our country has been lost, and we have to turn to our past, foreign educational systems, which have accumulated many other things in this field. The main task of the school is to educate citizens who support state institutions and respect the laws of the state (G. Ford, former president of the USA). To achieve this goal, significant financial resources are allocated to schools. U.S. President Clinton won the election precisely because he promised voters he would invest four times as much in the education system as his rival.
One effective way of implementing the principle is to introduce special school subjects and fill other school disciplines with relevant content into the practice of the U.S. school, e.g., the teaching of mini-courses lasting from two weeks to several months, such as Relations between countries, Social problems, etc., is firmly established. For all classes, there are teaching aids prepared by prominent specialists: Law and American society (for IX-XI grades), Outstanding Supreme Court trials (for VII VIII grades), The most important articles of the Constitution (for XI grade) and many others. Thematic series consisting of several textbooks are published: Law and City, Landowner and Tenant, Law and Consumer Poverty and Prosperity, Crime and Justice, etc.
In American and other Western schools, much is being done to create an attractive image of society and the state and to foster a positive attitude towards its ideals and values. In particular, this is achieved by inspiring young citizens with ideas that are beneficial to the government, although not always indisputable.
