The role of the school in socialization Part 2

The process of socialization is implemented through a system of certain social institutions designed to adjust the formation of social qualities of the individual by socially important values, to limit or activate the impact of some factors. In connection with the loss of old social institutions, it is necessary to develop new technologies of socialization, the introduction of which would, firstly, contribute to the satisfaction of the needs of individuals, groups, society as a whole; secondly, the training of people intelligently "handle" the mechanism of implementation of their behaviour, adequate to the general social conditions or specific social situation in which people are. It seems that the most effective application of these technologies to such an institution of socialization as school is.

School socialization is connected with the duration and necessity of the child's stay in school, which turns this stage of socialization into a normative one.

The traditional organization of school life most of all answered the task of reproduction of existing social relations, patterns of behaviour, social attitudes: reproduction, not creation, reproduction, not creativity. In the modern situation the requirements to school change. Freedom and self-development as an educational goal are fully and mastered by the world's pedagogical science and practice, but for our school, such tasks are only realized as actual.

The school acts as the first and basic model of the social world for a child. It is the school experience that helps to master the laws according to which the adult world lives, the ways of existence within the boundaries of these laws (different social roles, interpersonal relations, etc.). Transmission takes place not only and not so much in lessons and classrooms, through public speeches and intimate conversations of teachers, but also the whole atmosphere of school life and the norms according to which it lives. Only when the content of school life and the chosen organizational forms correspond to each other can we talk about a conscious approach to school as an institution of socialization. The disagreement of these components can lead to various negative consequences, contribute to the formation of "double morality", denial of normative behaviour in general, social apathy, etc.

When a child comes to school, he or she already has a certain set of parental prescriptions that regulate his or her behaviour and, consequently, this or that level of activity development. Children accustomed to meeting the requirements of their elders, as a rule, become more successful, because, on the one hand, it is easier for them to master school rules, on the other hand, they are convenient for the teacher. The success of impulsive children who are not able to obey the general rules depends on the teacher, his attitude to none-standard and initiative. The activity of such children is most often manifested in forms that irritate the teacher. Cutting off the activity, which is often initially positive in content, the teacher provokes destructive activity.

The school actively influences the motivation of success - one of the factors of self-change. It brings certain characteristics to the activities offered to schoolchildren. The activity corresponding to the level of the pupil's claims encourages achievements.

One of the most profound needs of an individual in our dramatic time is the need to develop a sufficiently defined, consistent and holistic concept of the modern world and its place in it. In the process of fundamental, rapid and ambiguous changes taking place in society, the individual runs the risk of being left with a disintegrated self-consciousness, i.e. with spiritual discomfort, with an uncertain future and with the loss of meaning in life.

Socialization is the result of the development of public consciousness in all its manifestations. In particular, the paper says that today society has not yet developed a common ideology and concept of its development. It is clear that it also has a strong impact on the process of socialization. In other words, what ideals should be used today to educate the future generation, what tasks and goals should be set before them, what content should be filled with such notions as patriotism, loyalty to one's duty, responsibility to society and people, etc., in order to ensure the progressive development of society. These questions are very complex and there is no specific and complete answer yet.
