On September 28, 2019, as part of the E-BIKE RACE SHOW festival, the first competitions in Russia on scooters, unicycles and electric bicycles were held in the territory of the Zorkiy ski stadium in Krasnogorsk.
The first to go were electric scooters. At first glance, it was clear that these were completely different scooters, not the ones that we see every day on the streets of the city. The participants had to ride along the grass, the stones, and along the roots of the trees, since the track passed through the forest of the park - fortunately, they were ready for such obstacles. Due to its characteristics, electric scooters have good engine traction, despite the small dimensions, and some of them even have four-wheel drive, give excellent off-road performance with large studded wheels.
Next, the electric unicycles came to the start. These people are like some stunt circus performers who ride on one wheel. You do not immediately understand how people maintain coordination and how to control the wheel while moving.
Driving a unicycle is much more difficult than a scooter: the secret is in distributing the center of gravity of the body and in controlling the legs. People who see a unicycle for the first time will not be able to get up and ride it without additional support. From the side it looks very strange: one person tries to stay on the wheel in every possible way, moving his legs left and right, and the other two hold him by the arms, preventing him from falling to the ground.
However, once you go, you quickly learn and immediately understand how this thing works. Even if children quickly learn to ride a unicycle, then anyone can do it.
More professional unicycle users look already prepared. They are all dressed in protective equipment - therefore, they can drive fast, and also show virtuoso tricks in solo performance, somewhat reminiscent of figure skating, but only on one wheel. In the unicycle competition, the participants had to overcome three laps, showing the best result. The unicycle develops great speed already from the start, and after a few seconds the competitor climbs up the mountain forest, hiding around the bend. After the first round, the audience began to worry about the question if there is enough charge for the remaining two circles? Although the unicycles are quite compact in their size, they are able to work for several hours, which were demonstrated by the participants of the competition, breaking three laps of 2.5 km in the shortest possible time, and then continuing to demonstrate solo performances.
According to the warnings of the organizers, the track is easy, but insidious enough, which was proved by one of the participants who got distracted on the track, fell and lost his go-pro camera, but this did not prevent him from taking one of the prize places.
At the end of the competition, the organizers prepared a surprise for visitors. In the competition between electric bicycles, the world champion and participant in the Olympic cycling games Sergey Lagutin entered the start.
As noted by the participants, for the first time the world champion will ride his bike not with his feet, but with the help of electricity... This race was indicative, however this did not prevent one of the participants in the competition from electric bicycles to compete and overtake the world medalist at the finish.
Despite the unprofessional nature of such competitions, the organizers of the event were able to show the dynamics of the development of light electric vehicles.
Some viewers were actively interested in the possibility of participating in the following competitions, which only proves the interest of the population in this area and the subsequent development of the electric transport market.
