Open the tap
OPEN THE TAP
If you know how to enlighten all your actions with mindfulness, you can have a lot of happiness
during all the time you wash your face, rinse your mouth, when you comb your hair or take a
shower... For example, turning on the tap, you are aware of the water that is starting to flow, of its path
to your bathroom. You can recite silently the following poem:
Water descends from the heights of the mountain
Or rising from the depths of the Earth.
The water flows miraculously to us.
My gratitude to her is infinite.
This poem helps you to see and know where the water comes from. This vision is already meditation. You also take
awareness that having access to running water is an opportunity. This awareness makes you aware of
happy, it is the Full Consciousness, the ability to recognize what is happening here and now: you open the
tap and the water runs. In the Plum Village in France, during a storm, there was a water cut-off. We
felt the distress of being deprived of water and the happiness of enjoying it again. This happiness is only recognized
if we remember the distress we were plunged into. Often I open the tap slowly, I
take the fresh water in both my hands to spray my eyes. Here in winter, the water is very, very cold! The
sensation caused by cold water on fingers, eyes and cheeks is stimulating. Recognize this
sensation, it wakes you up completely, enjoy it. You are also happy because you know
cherish the water and have gratitude.
The same is true when you run water in a toilet bowl, be aware of
With every move, don't think of anything. The most important thing is to feel the joy in every act, do not
don't rush to get it over with as soon as possible. This is meditation: this true presence to oneself at
At every moment, the ability to recognize every moment as a gift of life, earth and heaven.
This happiness is called the joy of meditation.
BRUSH YOUR TEETH
It's a challenge, you have one to two minutes to brush your teeth; how to be happy in if
for a short time?
Don't be in a hurry. Don't try to brush your teeth to finish as quickly as possible. You have to put everything
your heart in this act. You have time to brush your teeth, you have a brush, toothpaste, toothpaste, toothpaste
teeth to brush. I am over 80 years old and every time I brush my teeth, I am happy. What a wonder
to have, at that age, about thirty teeth to brush! It is a challenge to know how to be free
and happy in that short time. If you succeed, you are already practicing meditation. Below is a poem you can use:
By brushing my teeth,
I vow to make my words more beautiful.
When my mouth is embalmed with the right words,
A flower blooms in the garden of my heart
Poems help us to become aware of what is happening in the present moment. However, do not
we are not prisoners, if we are in full consciousness and concentration, if we are well
established in the present moment, we do not necessarily need these poems.

SHOWERING, WASHING YOUR HAIR, COMBING, SHAVING
OR DRY YOUR HAIR, GET DRESSED...
You can practice in the same way as for your teeth by rubbing with soap, shaving, shaving, and
painting you, dressing you....
Our body and mind are fully in what we are doing. Let's do it calmly
in happiness, as if shaving, combing, washing were the most important tasks in this
life. Don't get carried away by the past, the future, worry, anger or suffering, try it! At the end of
three days, you will notice the improvement as during a training in music, singing or sport...
Practice living fully and freely every moment of your daily life. To achieve this, you
should abandon the past, the future, the worries to return to the present moment, it alone contains life with
all its wonders.
URINATING, DEFECATING
You can also practice meditation by urinating and defecating, it is as important as
breathe, walk, sit, drink, eat and light incense. Life and joy must be
also present in these acts. You have to know how to live these moments deeply and put your whole being into
these acts. Relax, make yourself comfortable and be happy. Think about the moments of constipation,
urinary infection, incontinence or pain and you will see that it is a great pleasure to be able to urinate
and defecate without any problem. Do you need a poem?
