Amazing case. When I started to write about happiness and the movement towards the bright side, part of the readership was stirred up as if I were proposing to add poison to the tap water for the benefit of all the inhabitants of the Earth. Citizens were outraged and called for vigilance.
From their point of view, if you suddenly, for a moment, felt that you have everything in your life well, then you need to check whether your brain is in place. Because only those who don't have a brain are good. Someone could have brought it with you while you were standing there with your mouth open. In the end, to protect your brain from being stolen, you should never let yourself feel good. And even better to create a life full of artificial difficulties, so that God forbid not to relax.
The main idea of excitement of citizens is that, in their opinion, happy people are easy to manage. They, like cows in the meadow, chew pot and look into the blue sky, and they are milked at the same time. Guys, breathe out. Paranoid control is even easier, and it has long been understood by "the right people". Paranoid people do not need blue sky, and the grass can not feed them, they can be milked by force, because this fact fits perfectly into their picture of the world. The system must rape and it does it. The cow should be vigilant, i.e. to be aware of the humiliation of her position during milking. If the system stops raping, the picture of the world will fall apart. Imagine the horror that one day shepherds and milkmaids will not come to take away milk. I don't know what happened to them. Aliens from space, the plague, or they just decided to spit on their cows and do high technology. How to live with it? What, go straight to the meadow under the blue sky and chew grass there? Like this, right up to the old age? And where can we apply vigilance? Practice shows that such "cows" first of all rush to look for new oppressors to restore their meaning of life.
In general, I do not quite understand why people in this wary category are constantly rolling into animal metaphors. If we take the story of cows of any kind into consideration, there are always cunning shepherds who are trying to milk the cow with deceit or force. Can you imagine at least hominids, I'm not saying to use human metaphors? Yet closer to real life.
But let us return to happiness. I get the impression that happiness is confused with euphoria. That's when a person is really inactive, passive, complacent and not critical. Happiness, however, is a state of satisfaction from what has been achieved. Yes, much depends on what a person wanted to achieve. It happens that a person has reached a million in their accounts, and sometimes what they have achieved, pardon, toilet, in the moment of urgency. But whatever the circumstances, the achievement of happiness, this state of mind has one important quality. It does not last forever. A person quickly gets used to happiness, and in order to get another piece of it, a person must work. That is, you won't lie down, you won't smile, and you won't chew the grass.
What is the difficulty with happiness in people? As a rule, there are 2 reasons.
One, they don't know how to enjoy what they have and have achieved. Therefore, whatever they have achieved, it does not bring them any satisfaction.
Second, people do not seek their happiness, but what is considered happiness in society. Their interests, needs and goals have no value for them.
Yes, you can feel bad and sad. But how adequate it seems to be the desire to sit in this place for the rest of your life. It is as if a person sitting in a cold dirty puddle, categorically refuses to come out of it, afraid that he will have to take off his coat to change clothes. After all, he will be left without a coat. That's a horror.
Fear of happiness is an officially registered phobia. It is believed that this is the result of depression. In the past, a man wanted something good, but nothing of his aspirations came out of it. He received a whole range of negative feelings. What then? Then people often come to this conclusion: in order to reduce the pressure of negative emotions from the desire for happiness, you just have to stop striving for it. Yes, you will still be in a dirty puddle, but in time you can not only get used to it, but even love it.
At the same time, some people develop an ideological basis, according to which happily strive not only not to, but also dangerously. Another option is self-sabotage. A person thoroughly and for a long time develops in his head various barriers that will not allow him to feel happy.
It has been noticed that people who run away from happiness, replace the same "satisfaction from achievements" with addictions, chemical and behavioral. But this is a very manageable and therefore not dangerous happiness. You need happiness - poured it into a glass. Not enough? You can go shopping again. You can also eat, play a computer. What do you want to do, and happiness you will be without much effort.
In addition to the transition to addiction, people who are afraid of happiness, refuse from any progress in life, development of relationships, friendship. They do not need a new experience. Suddenly they will like it! But they are happy to indulge in negative emotions, prove to themselves and others that there is no happiness. This calms them down.
As I mentioned above, such people often artificially create a lot of difficulties in life. At the same time, some of them are really unfeasible. Any opportunity to get something easier scares them. And so it is better that everything was very difficult and nothing happened. It is more reliable to fence off the happy events in life. And even if happiness is on the threshold, they turn away from it and run away.
It would be nice to think about how you feel about happiness. Not to the abstract concept, but to the state in life, when you could look at yourself, others and the world around you with satisfaction. Is it really dangerous and scary? Here you are, and you are doing well. And if not well, do you need this drama with which you live. Is it real, or is it an "insoluble obstacle" that you have created for yourself? Why don't you make your life more comfortable and remove those fences, which you put to yourself?
And happy people are hard to manage. They each have their own happiness, their own aspirations and goals. They are not looking for shepherds who would be responsible for their happiness or misfortune. Without drama and vigilance. They just go where they are better, from where they are worse. Or they make good places out of bad places.
