1. The herb of immortality
Jiaogulan is a low-cost alternative to ginseng. In addition, it has many more positive properties, is better tolerated and has almost four times as many vitamins.
The taste of jiaogulan is a mix of sweet and bitter and a bit of licorice.
Each person perceives this taste differently: depending on whether one needs the bitter or the sweet effect.
How the plant works
- Adaptogen: it has various balancing saponins, some of which are identical to ginseng. These substances have the ability to restore the natural state or balance in bodily functions.
- Antioxidant: it stimulates the production of the body's own highly effective enzyme superoxide dismutase sustainably. This substance neutralizes the free radicals in the body.
- Cholesterol: it lowers the triglycerides and promotes a weight-reducing effect in excess weight
- Hematopoietic: especially the formation of white blood cells is activated by the plant (especially after a chemo- or radiotherapy of importance)
- Blood pressure: it keeps the blood pressure within the normal range and promotes its elevation at low blood pressure (similar to ginseng)
- Diabetes: It lowers blood sugar levels and blood lipid levels
- Strengthening the heart: it improves the pumping power of the heart and thus ensures better blood circulation
- Immune system: by strengthening the activity of the lymphocytes, it also strengthens the immune system - in both sick and healthy people
- Anti-cancer: their high concentration of glycosides inhibits cancer
- Stroke and heart attack: it prevents the clumping of platelets, which significantly reduces the risk of blood clots. Likewise, the plant is therefore suitable as a prevention for thrombosis.
- Promoting metabolism: through the better interaction of capillary and cardiac perfusion and the improvement of the blood picture and other factors
- Relieving stress: it has a balancing effect on the nervous system. Excessive nerves are calmed, feeble ones are stimulated again. This results in a better stress tolerance of the entire organism - and in athletes an increase in endurance performance
Uses
- as a tea: 2 - 3 teaspoons dried or fresh leaves on a pot of boiling water, let stand for at least 3 minutes
- in the form of capsules: 1 to 2 capsules daily
- fresh leaves: chew 1 to 2 leaves daily and let it melt slowly in the mouth; or add 1 to 2 leaves to the salad
- as elixir: for the production of natural cosmetics. It stimulates the skin functions, acts as a stimulus buffer and stabilizes hypersensitive skin; acts gentle and harmonious
2. Ginger - a strong root
For some years, ginger has also prevailed in the western world as an important and valuable ingredient in kitchens. It not only gives a special taste to dishes, but we can also benefit in many ways from its healing effects!
Its direction of action is superficial / at the skin surface - therefore it helps us to drive away pathogens, if they have not yet penetrated into the interior.
It thus affects the functional circuit of the lungs, but also on the spleen, stomach, kidneys and heart.
His taste is "spicy"; Its temperature behavior ranges from "warm" with the fresh ginger root to "hot" with dried ginger.
Ginger warms the yang, dissipates coldness, removes damp cold, converts cold mucus, relieves bleeding and eliminates the tendency to collapse.
Benefits of ginger root
- warms our middle, is antispasmodic and thus acts against nausea, vomiting and diarrhea (from cold )
- its corrosive oils can help you when you're struggling with travel sickness
- makes everything compatible and helps against flatulence: when cooking (cereals, compotes, soups, ...) simply cook a slice of ginger and remove before eating
- promotes the secretion of saliva and gastric juice and thus acts against loss of appetite
- is sweaty due to its superficial effect: at the beginning of a cold or the same day, if you have gotten too much wind drink one to two cups of fresh ginger tea, cinnamon bark, star anise and fennel and warm wrap up and go to sleep - so you can Maybe still catch the pathogens.
- has a strong antibiotic and antiseptic effect. It can therefore help to chew a piece of raw ginger during a fish or meat poisoning
- acts antifungal = against fungi
- inhibits platelet aggregation: this causes the platelets to not clump, thereby preventing the growth of blood clots. This is especially interesting for the prevention of strokes and heart attacks.
- The skin of the root has a diuretic effect and is therefore used for edema (water retention)
- has an expectorant effect on chronic cough with white mucus
You can buy ginger everywhere today, but did you know that you can easily grow the plant yourself?
I find that really exciting and I would like to try it next spring!
And what do you think?
