Hello, dear health-conscious person,
Today we will discuss something that you may not have thought so much about: drinks and how TCM stands for them.
A not so irrelevant topic, I think, because we should take enough fluid to be healthy.
First, let's touch upon a brand hot topic:
Smoothies
Now a real hype about it broke out. But is this food in liquid form actually as healthy as it is currently advertised everywhere? And what should you pay attention to when preparing this miracle drink? I would like to tell you today.
So first of all, it depends very much on what ingredients you use for your smoothie. If it is mainly made of fruit, it soon becomes unmasked as a calorie trap and it leads relatively quickly to large blood sugar spikes, which we actually want to avoid in a healthy diet. However, if too much greens are used, you may also experience problems - depending on the nutritional content of the food you are using.
Many people think that they can take such drinks in unlimited quantities. Often, a larger amount is prepared and then taken to work (or wherever). Sure, sounds practical too. But as soon as fruit or vegetables are minced, it loses its nutrient content. After about 15 minutes you can assume that only a fraction of vitamins is contained.
A particularly important point is that we should not just see smoothies as a substitute for food!
Why are they so popular? Because it is very convenient and fast, especially in the morning where anyway not much time for a hearty breakfast in peace. Mixing a smoothie quickly and tipping it down in one or two moves - and thinking you're doing something good with it - sounds really appealing and easy.
But we should also be aware that a smoothie must be digested as well as solid food. And the digestion begins in the mouth, with the salivation of the food.
So you should eat your smoothie just like any other meal. With peace and pleasure, first activate the senses and adjust to the food and then sip well by sip, so that the digestion can function optimally and run off.
Tea and hot water
Hot water is adapted to the body temperature, so the organism spends no energy to heat the liquid first. In addition, water is the only drink that has no other significant effects on the body.
In contrast, there are often liters of herbal tea drunk , which certainly have a certain pharmacological effect. Although the concentration of finished tea bags is relatively lower, such tea drugs should be consumed only in moderation and only in certain indications.
Here again is an important point that - depending on the metabolic type - certain herbs are not recommended as they can negatively affect the metabolism.
It is best to use herbs only if you want to benefit from their healing properties.
The drinking recommendations depend on the type of constitution and the present dysharmony. In addition, they depend on other conditions; Athletes, pregnant women and sick people often have an increased need for fluids.
The drinking of pure, hot water causes a flushing out of excess slag and deposits and thus initially an increased urinary frequency. Soon, the beneficial effect is felt, especially on cold, drab days.
Generally, drink 1 to 3 glasses of water immediately after getting up to replenish the water balance.
Coffee in TCM
Coffee and its effects on the human organism is very controversial.
According to TCM, it brings heat up, which can lead, for example, to heart racing, and cold down. The stimulating effect is certainly also positive, but if someone reacts to the caffeine very much, he should better abstain from coffee. Likewise, when someone responds to the cooling property, that is, if you drink a cup of coffee and then have to wash it down.
Depending on the metabolic type, coffee has to be considered differently: it can stimulate and stir up an already stimulated protein type even more; With a carbohydrate type that is rather slow, this effect may be more desirable.
A recipe you can drink instead of coffee in the morning to wake up:
1 cup of hot water, 3 grams of rosemary, 5 grams of passionflower, 3 grams of ginseng
Put the spices in a tea filter or just in the cup and pour hot water on it. Let the spices soak for about 3 to 5 minutes.
Coffee becomes more gentle on the stomach by adding 2 - 5 anise seeds, 1 clove, 1 - 2 Msp. Cardamom and brings more heat into the body.
If you regularly take coffee, it would be worth considering using a bio variety. Since the coffee plants are very sensitive and conventional methods do not use natural methods,
The plants are sprayed very strong - which of course goes directly to the beans.
Maybe this will help you in the future to rethink or improve your morning drinking rituals.
In the sense,
