This sport takes its' origin from Red Bull - it's called Ice Cross Downhill. It's getting "huge" at the moment.
Over 150.000 people overall were watching the race in St. Paul. By now, from Athletes to Fans, everyone is putting a lot of efforts to make this sport an Olympic one.
Russia is the first country in the world to construct a permanent track. Previously, tracks were built for a month, and then getting "destroyed." Of course, such practice looks cool – the great track, built over the city, with all of those flashing lights and etc... But permanent tracks sounds like a better option for training.
Sportsmen can use rollerblades by the summer and Skates by the winter. This track has an impressive start. Sportsmen and getting transported to the top by an individual lift.
The famous American Athlete – Cameron Naasz (3-times World Champion), had a chance of opening this track and having a test-drive on it. For 5-days, Cameron was having a good time in Moscow, split up between riding, interviews, wake surf, studying Russian language and trying Russian "Bortsch." As Cameron mentioned, it would be great to have such a track in his own city – Minnesota.
The track is situated in Park Patriot, where everyone has a chance of a free entrance.
The first Rollerblades Downhill Competition in the World will take its' place in Park Patriot at the beginning of August.
For now, sportsmen in Russia now has unique options for training – the track is working every day in the year.
