It's a 2001 romantic comedy that stars Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, a 32-year-old British single woman who writes a diary, which focuses on the things she wishes to happen in her life. However, her life changes when two men vie for her affection, portrayed by Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. The British accent of the leads is truly delightful to listen to.

Films, films, films 🎞 Good morning, everyone! Why don't we watch something that can teach a lesson this Sunday? Welcome, please, The Shawshank Redemption. It is a 1994 American prison drama based on the 1982 Stephen King novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption". The film tells the story of a banker called Andy Dufresne who is sentenced to life in Shawshank State Penitentiary for the murders of his wife and her lover, despite his claims of innocence. Over the following two and a half decades, he befriends a fellow prisoner, contraband smuggler Ellis "Red" Redding, and becomes instrumental in a money laundering operation led by the prison warden Samuel Norton. Over this quarter of a century of his unfair sentence Andy keeps maintaining his innocence and trying to remain hopeful. P.S. Films, films, films 🎞 It being the last day of autumn, it's high time we celebrated the beginning of the coming holiday season. Talking about romantic comedies that create a festive mood, today's is probably the one I love the most. Welcome, please, SURVIVING CHRISTMAS, 2004. It stars Ben Affleck, James Gandolfini, Christina Applegate and Catherine O'Hara. The film will tell you about a lonely, obnoxious young millionaire who pays a family to let him spend Christmas with them. 😍 ☃️ 🎄

Films, films, films 🎞 The LANGOLIERS The LANGOLIERS is a horror miniseries consisting of two parts of 1½ hours each. It is based on a novella by Stephen King from the four-part anthology book Four Past Midnight. Most of the passengers and all the members of the crew of an airplane mysteriously disappear when it flies through a strange light, and the remainder (who were asleep at the time of the flight) land the plane in a mysteriously barren airport which means it is completely deserted and without power. I am in the habit of mentioning the LANGOLIERS when my students are being taught to know the difference between Present Perfect and Past Simple. Watch it to understand why! 😉

Films, films, films 🎞 This weekend I suggest watching a good old horror. What Lies Beneath is a 2000 American supernatural film directed by Robert Zemeckis (yeah, not only did he produce the famous science fiction trilogy Back to the Future, but also successfully worked with all the genres). My today's choice stars Harrison Ford as a university professor and Michelle Pfeiffer as his wife, who is unsure if their home is haunted by a ghost or if she is losing her mind. I have to admit that I absolutely adore Pheiffer as an actress and, moreover, one of the beauties of the XXth century (if you have ever watched the 1986 Scarface, I guess, you get it). So, let us tickle the nerves!

Halloween time 🎃 Films, films , films 🎞 Totally Killer is a 2023 American slasher comedy film that follows Jamie (Shipka) who, after her mother is murdered by the Sweet 16 Killer who went on a murder spree 35 years earlier, travels back in time to 1987, where she tries to catch the killer during his original spree and return to her timeline before she is trapped in the past forever. In Vernon, a rather small town, three teenage girls named Tiffany, Marisa and Heather were killed by the "Sweet 16" Killer, each having been stabbed 16 times on the nights of their 16th birthdays. It happened on October 27, 29, and 31, 1987. In the present day, teen Jamie goes out with her friend at Halloween while her mother Pam is at home. Pam used to be friends with the three victims, and, while handing out candy, she is attacked by him. Grieving, Jamie helps her mate to put the finishing touches on a time machine created for a school project. So the main character is in 1987 to pair up with her mum.
