Base creator Pollak admits social bet failure, shifts to financial apps and perps
Jesse Pollak, the creator of the Ethereum layer-2 network Base, announced he is stepping back from leadership of the Base App, admitting his bet on social-driven crypto adoption was “definitively wrong.” In a post on X, Pollak stated that while the chain initially concentrated on creator apps, content, and messaging, the market for those services “disintegrated completely,” leaving Base trailing in key areas like prediction markets and perpetual futures (perps).
