In apocryphal literature, the earliest mention of this episode is found in the Gospel of Nicodemus (presumably from the 4th century). Gaius Cassius Longinus; born no later than 86 BC - October 3rd, 42 BC) - Roman statesman from the plebeian family of Cassius Longinus, known primarily as one of the main killers of Gaius Julius Caesar. Longinus is something very special since his namesake centurion Longinus killed Jesus Christ, crucified on the cross, with a spear.
