Let’s start from the beginning. Let’s look at our English skills objectively. Most likely, your knowledge isn’t that bad, but you still lack confidence when talking to English speakers or watching movies and videos. You might feel frustrated: "Why? I’ve been learning English for so long, but in reality, I still feel like a beginner." Even after 10 years of school and private lessons, you aren't satisfied with the results.
Why does this happen? The problem isn't you; it's the system. It’s like math: if you miss one part, everything else becomes too complicated. To get rid of this feeling, you need to systematize your knowledge, revisit the basics, and then build upon them. Move from the simple to the complex.
Here are some simple tips to improve your English level. I will also post short lessons to help you.
1. The Alphabet.
Review the letters. The internet offers plenty of entertaining videos that make it easy and fun to learn. It only takes about 15 minutes.
2. Sounds, Letter Combinations, and Transcription.
Many modern schools skip transcription, claiming it’s no longer relevant. However, I believe that without it, moving forward is difficult. It is the foundation. Once you learn it, you will see a huge difference in how quickly your skills improve. It takes maybe an hour of study and an hour of revision, but everything becomes much clearer.
3. Grammar.
Start with the basics: Parts of Speech (nouns, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, and verbs). Don't skip the simple things. I was surprised to find that even advanced students sometimes don't know how to form plural nouns correctly.
