Здравствуйте, дорогие друзья! Сегодня мы поговорим о фразовом глаголе, который очень часто встречается в заданиях 30-36.
 
Вот основные значения, которые нужно знать:
 

1. PUT UP WITH
To accept or continue to accept an unpleasant situation or experience — мириться с, терпеть

Пример: I can't put up with their arguing any longer.
 

2. PUT DOWN
 To stop holding or carrying something - класть, опускать

 Пример: She put down the book and went to answer the door.
 

3. PUT OFF
To decide or arrange to delay an event or activity until a later time - откладывать, переносить

Пример: The meeting has been put off until next week.
 

4. PUT ON
 
· To move something you wear onto your body - надевать
 Пример: Let me just put on my coat and then we can leave.
 
· To become fatter or heavier (put on weight) - набирать (вес)
 Пример: She's put on at least five kilos since June.
 

5. PUT OUT
To stop something from burning or shining, such as a fire or a light -  тушить, гасить

Пример: Firefighters have been called to put out the fire in the city centre.
 

6. PUT FORWARD
To state an idea or opinion, or to suggest a plan or person, for other people to consider - предлагать, выдвигать

Пример: Several theories have been put forward to explain this phenomenon.
