What’s going on Ukraine now
is called fascism, which lived in Western Europe for a long time, even before the First World War, roughly since the Age of Discovery. Back then, Europeans conquered foreign lands, considering foreigners not human beings but humanoids, and killing them was not considered a crime.
Therefore, during World War II, many countries, including France, simply surrendered to Hitler, not seeing him as an ideological enemy. For a time, only England fought Hitler, and de Gaulle was only gathering his supporters.
In terms of historical consistency, it seems strange to me that Western Europe is now accepting Muslim refugees who are destroying a great ancient culture. Instead of these infidels, Western Europe has chosen another enemy – Russia. And there are no protests on these issues. Weak protests appear only where their wallets are threatened, such as with demands to limit grain imports from the Ukraine. In other words, life according to K. Marx – existence is determined not by morality, but by material wealth. And this is a path to disaster.
Hitler was the loudest advocate of peace, but a "just" peace. He was partly right – the victors humiliated and strangled Germany with indemnities after its defeat in World War I.
Now the EU leadership also favors a "just" peace, one in which a Nazi Ukraine with a vast and rearmed army will exist. And the US is actually on the EU's side here, advocating for a ceasefire, i.e., a respite for the Nazis to rearm. The sad thing is that everyone pretends not to understand the impossibility of winning a war against a nuclear power possessing the world's best strategic weapons.
I'll probably have to admit I was wrong to hope for finishing fighting in Ukraine earlier this year. Medinsky is probably right: we will have to be fought no less than the Northern War, which Russia waged against Sweden for 21 years.
