For the past 10 years of my life, I hadn't have to stand out as an English language teacher much. I have worked for the university and never ran out of students to teach. Evidently, there was a little competition among the teaching staff, especially when it came to assigning the teachers in charge of the more advanced groups. However, only after starting my independent teaching career as a self-employed online tutor in 2021 have I realised how important it is to be unique. The competition on the online job market for the private tutors is stiff. The potential clients search for the teachers who tick all the boxes with help of online aggregators or social media. In my first blog post I would like to speculate on the topic of what exactly makes us unique as English Language Tutors.
