It's no secret that the national color of Ireland is green but not everyone knows  why.

Actually, nowadays green is so popular in Ireland only because of The Saint Patrick. A long time ago it was the favourite colour of royalty and of St Patrick too, of course. He explained this by the fact that clover leaves, which are light green shade, bring good luck.

The Irish associate something else with luck and green — leprechauns.

Leprechauns are mythical creatures from Irish folklore that immediately come to mind when you think about this country. They are fully dressed in all vibrant green and bring wealth to the home and family.

Green is also present on the national flag of Ireland. Here it is associated by the Irish with the Catholic Church. Orange symbolizes Protestants, and white — peace between the two sides.
