Consumer Lending Shows Signs of Recovery

Krasnodar, 17 March – Yug Times. The proportion of refusals for consumer loans fell slightly in February, according to the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBCH). The trend is evident across the Kuban region and the country as a whole. However, rejection rates remain very high, with Krasnodar Krai among the leaders alongside Novosibirsk, Orenburg, Omsk, and Volgograd regions. In Kuban, refusals dropped by 1.1 per cent. In January, 78.7 per cent of applicants were denied credit, compared with 77.6 per cent in February. “Despite the small decrease in February, the share of declined applications remains high,” commented Aleksei Volkov, NBCH Marketing Director. “Banks are raising requirements for the credit histories of prospective borrowers, thereby reducing the risk of future defaults. At the same time, competition is increasing among banks for clients with high creditworthiness—those with a Personal Credit Score above 750.
