Оплата Union Pay, выпущенной в Китае
Мне удалось снимать деньги в банкоматах. В некоторых местах принимают только наличные. В Seven Eleven можно платить картой Union Pay за покупки от 200 бат.
Chiang Mai
Город с множеством баров и легализованных магазинов. В центре много храмов, которые стоит посетить.
Ночной рынок Chiang Puak Gate Night Market очень многолюдный. Еда там мне не очень понравилась. Многие лавки стараются обслуживать клиентов как можно быстрее, что сказывается на качестве.
Мы поехали в Doi Suthep на такси. На мой взгляд, эта достопримечательность переоценена. Это маленькое место с толпами туристов. Я планировала весь день на это место, но увидела все примерно за полчаса. Лучший вариант — хайкинг до этого храма. Рано утром возьмите такси до начала маршрута, до Wat Pha Lat hike (Monk’s Trail), рядом с зоопарком. Пройдите пешком до Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, осмотритесь, затем продолжите путь к Doi Suthep.
При выборе жилья избегайте окон, выходящих на Mun Mueang Road или другие дороги по внешнему квадрату старого города. Дорога очень шумная даже после полуночи.
Где поесть
Мне понравился SunKiss Breakfast and Brunch.
Из Chiang Mai можно доехать на автобусе до Chiang Rai. Билеты бронируйте заранее на 12go.asia.
Chiang Rai
Очаровательный небольшой город, который показался мне приятнее, чем Chiang Mai.
Проще всего осматривать достопримечательности, забронировав тур. Туристические компании повсюду, стандартный однодневный тур включает все основные места.
Я пользовалась Black Dragon Tours. Мой гид был не очень, но гид в другой группе, Moongtour, был лучше.

Говорят, что субботний ночной рынок больше, чем воскресный. Рынки находятся в разных местах и оба отмечены в Google Maps. Ищите “Saturday market” и “Sunday market”. Рекомендую субботний рынок для снеков, сувениров и прочих покупок.
Pattaya
Ехать стоит, если вы хотите увидеть Sanctuary of Truth. Входной билет — 500 бат (по состоянию на 2025 год).
Pattaya также известна эскорт- и другими подобными услугами.
Ao Nang
Отличное место с множеством активностей. Смотрите местные однодневные туры и обязательно торгуйтесь, снижая цену минимум на 600–1000 бат.
Если вы любите йогу, рекомендую sunset yoga с Yoga Balance Studio. Занятия проходят на пляже. Бронируйте заранее. Сначала немного шумно из-за лодок longboat, но после захода солнца становится тише.
Railay Beach отличный, один из лучших. Добраться можно из Ao Nang на моторных лодках.
После этого я поехал(а) на Phi Phi Island на пару дней. Билеты на паром можно купить у местных операторов. Стоит поторговаться.
Phi Phi
Очень много отдыхающих, но толпы можно избежать. Здесь мне понравился пляж Long Beach. До него можно добраться на водном такси или пройти пешком вдоль берега. С Long Beach можно дойти до Loh Moo Dee Beach — там тихо и есть тень под деревьями. Мне очень понравилось. Проверьте пеший маршрут в Google Maps.
Хорошее жильё бронируйте сильно заранее. Сторона Loh Dalum Beach по ночам шумная и оживлённая. Я остановилась в Chaokoh Phi Phi Hostel, и перед ним был ресторан с громкой музыкой с 22:00 до 01:00. Если б я знала…
Рядом с Phi Phi Villa Resort и дальше в сторону Long Beach не шумно.
На острове много лодочных туров.
С Пхи Пхи до Пхукета я уехала на пароме. Билеты можно купить у местных агентов; я покупала онлайн на Klook.
*Если у вас китайский номер телефона, нужно скачать Klook из китайского App Store. Приложение будет на китайском, но зато оплатить можно через WeChat.
Phuket
Район старого города Phuket Old Town очень приятный, особенно вечером.
Из Пхукета в аэропорт можно доехать на автобусе от Bus Terminal 1. Он ходит каждый час с 6:00 до 19:00 — 6:00, 7:00, 8:00 и так далее. Я не отдыхала на этом острове, поэтому другой информации у меня пока нет.
Koh Samui
Я жил(а) рядом с Chaweng Beach. Этот район оживлённый — с клубами, барами и ресторанами. Вот что могу сказать по своему опыту.

Я остановилась в Nid’s bungalows. Это тихое место у озера, в пешей доступности от Chaweng Beach. Рядом есть рестораны. Иногда слышны бои со стадиона Muay Thai поблизости, но меня это не сильно беспокоило. Бунгало подешевле довольно простые. Те, что подороже на порядок комфортнее.

Я жила не в хостеле этого отеля, а в отдельном номере с террасой. Было очень комфортно. Хороший бассейн, до Chaweng Beach можно дойти пешком. С улицы было немного шумно, но терпимо — спала я хорошо.

Samui Grand Safari Tour

Паром можно забронировать в туристических агентствах. Также билет можно купить прямо на пирсе, например в Pralan Pier. Или 12go.asia
Ko Pha-Ngan
Это остров вечеринок, но есть и тихие места. Приложения такси здесь не работают. Вместо этого используют songthaews — переоборудованные пикапы с двумя лавками сзади и крышей. Это местная система совместного такси и ближайший аналог общественного транспорта. Скажите водителю пункт назначения и договоритесь о цене до посадки. Они могут быть дорогими. Цена зависит от расстояния, количества пассажиров и времени суток. Я хотел(а) поехать на один пляж — попросили 500, позже сел(а) в другой за 150.
Если у вас есть водительские права, можно арендовать скутер или машину — это дешевле, чем общественный транспорт.
Я жил(а) в Beck’s resort. Он прямо у моря со своим выходом к морю, можно дойти пешком до уединённого пляжа, который иногда нудистский. В Beck’s resort можно арендовать каяк и доплыть до ближайшего острова. Также рядом есть 7-eleven.

Paying with Union Pay issued in China
I was able to withdraw money from ATMs. In some places they only accept cash. In Seven Eleven you can pay directly by a Union Pay card for your purchases starting from 200 baht.
Chiang Mai
A town with many bars and legalized shops. There are plenty of downtown temples to visit.
Chiang Puak Gate Night Market is very busy. I ate food there that wasn’t very good. Many stalls try to serve as fast as possible, which affects quality.
We went to Doi Suthep by taxi. In my opinion it’s overrated, small, and crowded. I planned the whole afternoon for it but finished in about half an hour. A better option is to hike. Early in the morning take a taxi to the start of the Wat Pha Lat hike (Monk’s Trail), near the zoo. Hike to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, spend some time there, then continue to Doi Suthep. I didn’t do this, but people who did said it’s not an easy hike and takes time.
For accommodation, avoid windows facing Mun Mueang Road or other roads on the outer square of the old town. Traffic is very noisy even after midnight.

I liked SunKiss Breakfast and Brunch.
From Chiang Mai you can take a bus to Chiang Rai. Book tickets in advance on 12go.asia.
Chiang Rai
A charming small town that felt nicer than Chiang Mai.
It’s easiest to see the sights by booking a tour. Tour companies are everywhere, and the standard one-day tour includes all the must-see places.
I used Black Dragon Tours. My guide wasn’t great, but the guide in the other group was better. At the Long Neck Village another group had a very good guide from Moongtour, so you may check that option.
You can also book a hiking tour with local companies to visit mountain villages.
DThe Saturday night market is said to be bigger than the Sunday night market. They are in different locations and both show up on Google Maps. Search for “Saturday market” and “Sunday market.” I recommend the Saturday market for snacks and local products.
Pattaya
Go if you want to see the Sanctuary of Truth. The entrance fee is 500 baht (as of 2025).
Pattaya is also known for escort and other services.
Ao Nang
A great place with plenty of activities. Check local day trips and make sure to bargain the price down by at least 600–1000 baht.
If you like yoga, I recommend sunset yoga with Yoga Balance Studio. Book in advance. It’s a bit loud from longboats at first but gets quieter as the sun sets.
Railay Beach is excellent. Visit Phra Nang Beach. Take a longtail boat from Ao Nang; it leaves when full. Tickets are sold at the information center near Ao Nang Beach.
After that I went to Phi Phi Island for a couple of days. You can buy ferry tickets from local operators, and possibly bargain.
Phi Phi
Very touristy, but you can avoid crowds. Long Beach is nice. You can reach it by water taxi or walk along the shore. From Long Beach you can get to Loh Moo Dee Beach, which is quiet and has shade under the trees. I liked it a lot. Check Google Maps for the walking route.
Book decent accommodation well in advance. The Loh Dalum Beach side is loud and busy at night. I stayed at Chaokoh Phi Phi Hostel, and there was a restaurant in front of it playing loud music from 10 pm to 1 am.
There is no noise near Phi Phi Villa Resort and further toward Long Beach.
There are many boat tours available on the island.
I took a ferry from Phi Phi to Phuket. You can buy tickets from local agents; I bought mine online on Klook.
If you have a Chinese phone number, you must download Klook from the Chinese App Store. It will be in Chinese, but you can pay with WeChat.
Phuket
Phuket Old Town is lovely, especially at night.
From Phuket to the airport you can take a bus from Bus Terminal 1. It operates every hour from 6 am to 7 pm, 6:00, 7:00 , 8:00 and so on. I didn’t spend any time on the island, so I have on further personal recommendation.
Koh Samui
I stayed nearby Chaweng Beach. I haven’t been much in other parts of the island, but this one is a bustling area with clubs, bars and restaurants. Here is what I can say about my experience.
Accommodation
I stayed at Nid’s bungalows. It’s located in a quiet area by the lake, walking distance from Chaweng Beach. There are restaurants around. Sometimes you can hear the fights from the Muay Thai stadium nearby, but it didn’t bother me much. The cheaper bungalows are quite simple, the more expensive ones are very nice.

I wasn’t in the hostel but in a Deluxe Double room with a balcony. It was very nice. There was a good swimming pool, I could walk to Chaweng beach. It was a bit noisy from the street, but okay. I could sleep well.

Samui to Ko Pha Ngan
You can book a ferry in tourism agencies. You can also buy the ticket at the pier, for example in Pralan Pier.
Ko Pha-Ngan
It’s a party island, but there are quiet spots too. Taxi apps don’t work here. Instead Songthaews are a way to go. They are converted pickup trucks with two bench seats in the back and a roof. They act as the island’s default shared taxi system and are the closest thing to public transport you’ll find. Tell the driver your destination and agree on the fare before you hop on. They might be pricey. Prices depend on distance, number of passengers, and time of day. I wanted to go to one beach, and they asked 500, later I hopped on another one for 150.
If you have a driver’s license, you can rent a scooter or a car. That’s more affordable than public transport.
I stayed at Beck’s resort. It’s right by the sea, and you can walk to a secluded beach. Sometimes it converts to a nudist beach, I don’t know when and how. At Beck’s resort you can rent a kayak and row to the nearest island. Also, there’s 7-eleven nearby.
Take a nap spa is very good for massage, I really enjoyed it.

This is a private museum and cafe in the historic Portuguese-Thai district of Bangkok, created by a local woman in her aunt's house.
