The launch in Saudi Arabia is part of a broader strategy to diversify markets amid Western sanctions and to capitalize on growing healthcare spending in the Gulf region. Saudi Arabia has been ramping up investments in medical technology as part of its Vision 2030 program, creating fertile ground for new audio healthcare devices. However, Oktava will face tough competition from established global brands that dominate the hearing aid market.

Beyond hearing aids: wide array of sound solutions on display

At the Riyadh expo, Oktava also introduced an assortment of other audio products aiming to capture niches in professional and consumer sound equipment. Among them was the AB-400 audiobadge, a compact device for high-quality autonomous voice recording. The company also presented the OWS-U2200 PRO, Russia’s first domestic radio system tailored for professional events, notable for its ability to cascade up to four receivers without complex antenna setups, ensuring clear signals in crowded radio frequency environments.

Oktava’s microphone lineup on display included models suited for concerts and studios, like the versatile MD-307 and the compact MK-012 with multiple interchangeable directional capsules. The brand also offered a wireless lavalier system, a dual-directional USB microphone for dialogue recording, and a professional stereo headset designed for call centers and meetings. This varied portfolio reflects Oktava’s ambitions to broaden beyond traditional audio gear.

Industrial pride and import substitution ambitions fuel growth

Lyubov Stalnova, CEO of Oktava DM, emphasized Tula’s strong industrial base and the company’s evolving role from a microphone maker to a developer of multipurpose sound technologies. She framed their participation in INNOPROM as a demonstration of Russia’s push to develop high-tech medical equipment domestically and present a successful import substitution model internationally. The interest from foreign partners in the NОТА hearing aids points to some success in overcoming image and technology barriers.

While the INNOPROM. Saudi Arabia expo helped foster business connections, Oktava’s long-term success overseas will depend on its ability to compete on quality, price, and after-sales support in markets generally dominated by Western and East Asian companies. Still, this move could mark one of the more successful recent examples of Russian tech exports finding footholds in non-traditional markets amid widening geopolitical rifts.
