Manuel Franchi, (Italy), MSA-2019, is currently serving as an MPC (Media Press Center) Operations Supervisor at the Milano-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games. In this role, he ensures that key stakeholders such as OBS, the IOC and international press receive all necessary services to deliver world-class storytelling of the Games in a truly elite environment.
Manuel and his team organize press conferences for athletes, IOC and NOCs, provide efficient workspaces for journalists, and oversee the daily management of numerous operational processes.
“One of the best experiences of this job happens every day, when we see that everything is proceeding smoothly and people all over the world enjoy the Games in all their greatness and excellence,” Manuel shares. “I also had the chance to visit competition venues such as the Figure Skating Arena, Ice Hockey Arena and Snowboard Cross in Livigno, in the beautiful Italian Alps. The atmosphere and joyful environment make everything special.”
These Winter Games have been Manuel’s goal since he applied to RIOU in 2019 — which is why his dissertation was dedicated to Milano-Cortina 2026. Today, he is applying the knowledge gained in Sochi, especially in venue management and communication with Olympic stakeholders.
“Without RIOU’s education and expertise, I would have never had the chance to be here and be part of the world’s biggest sporting event. I can finally say it: it’s a dream come true.”
