The Forest Friends / Друзья из леса
Once upon a time, in a bright green forest, there lived four best friends: Rabbit Bobby, Fox Alice, Bear Tommy and Squirrel Lucy.
Although they were different, they always helped each other and spoke English to understand one another better.
One sunny morning, Rabbit Bobby was very sad.
— What’s wrong, Bobby? — asked Fox Alice.
— I can’t find my carrots! I wanted to make a salad for lunch, but all my carrots are gone! — said Bobby, almost crying.
— Don’t worry, we’ll help you! — said Bear Tommy.
— Let’s look for them together! — added Squirrel Lucy.
The friends began to search:
- Fox Alice looked under the bushes.
- Bear Tommy checked near the big oak.
- Squirrel Lucy climbed trees to see farther.
- Rabbit Bobby hopped around, calling, “Carrots, where are you?”
After an hour of searching, Squirrel Lucy shouted:
— Look! Over there! A group of rabbits is eating your carrots!
Indeed, a family of wild rabbits had found Bobby’s carrot patch and were happily munching away.
— Oh no! — sighed Bobby.
— Wait, I have an idea! — said Fox Alice.
She gently approached the wild rabbits and said:
— Hello! My friend Bobby is very sad because you are eating his carrots. Could you please leave some for him? In return, we can show you another place with even more delicious carrots!
The wild rabbits agreed. The friends led them to a bigger carrot field nearby, and in return, the wild rabbits left half of Bobby’s carrots.
— Thank you, friends! Now I can make my salad! — smiled Rabbit Bobby.
— That’s what friends are for! — said Bear Tommy.
From that day on, the four friends made a rule:
Always help each other, speak kindly, and solve problems together.
And so, every afternoon, they gathered under the big oak tree, spoke English, shared stories and enjoyed tea with honey cakes made by Bear Tommy.
