Townsfolk’s Comfort Becomes Shared Responsibility
Krasnodar, 25 February – Yug Times. In Sochi, officials have discussed the application of the infrastructure levy to investment projects.
The measure is intended to secure investor participation in the development of social infrastructure. Individual housing projects are exempt from the charge. The mechanism for allocating funds received from investors towards education, culture and sport facilities was examined at a recent meeting at City Hall.
“We have taken into account existing Russian experience of infrastructure payments in urban development projects, which has proved effective — in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Perm and Saratov Oblast. Let me stress once again that the payment is advisory and voluntary in nature, but it benefits both city residents and the investor: the funds are channelled into the construction of infrastructure such as roads, schools and nurseries, improvement of public spaces and the renewal of public transport. The infrastructure levy is fully aligned with Sochi’s comprehensive territorial development projects,” said Sochi Mayor Andrei Proshunin.
