Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Switzerland on a working visit, where he plans to attend the signing ceremony in Davos of the Charter of the Peace Council, established at the initiative of US President Donald Trump.
The official website of the Uzbek leader states that several bilateral meetings are also planned as part of Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Davos on January 22.
According to the Uzbek leader's press service, Shavkat Mirziyoyev has received an official invitation from US President Donald Trump to participate in an international initiative aimed at strengthening peace in the Middle East and resolving conflicts. The invitation notes that this initiative is based on the Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza, announced on September 29, 2025, supported by world leaders, and endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 of November 17, 2025.
A key element of the initiative is the creation of a Peace Council – a new international structure designed to unite states willing to assume responsibility for building long-term peace, stability, and security. The Republic of Uzbekistan has been invited to join the Peace Council as a founding member.
The President of Uzbekistan sent a letter in response to his American counterpart, expressing Uzbekistan's readiness to join the Peace Council as a founding member. In his message, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that this initiative is viewed as an important step in resolving long-standing conflicts in the Middle East and ensuring peace and stability in the vast region.
