World Chess Cup winner Javokhir Sindarov has been named the best chess player of Uzbekistan in 2025. Last year, Javokhir Sindarov successfully reached the final of the World Cup held in Goa, India, where he defeated Chinese grandmaster Wei Yi in the decisive match. Following this significant achievement, Javokhir Sindarov was awarded a three-room apartment by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as a presidential gift. His coaches also received cash bonuses. Furthermore, Javokhir Sindarov was awarded the honorary title of “Honored Athlete of the Republic of Uzbekistan.” Umida Omonova was named the best female chess player of 2025. The International Chess Federation (FIDE) and Freestyle Chess Operations GmbH have reached an agreement to host the official World Freestyle Chess Championship for the first time, with Uzbek Grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov also participating.
