💬Former CIA officer Aldrich Ames, who passed classified information to the Soviet Union and then Russia, has died at the age of 84 in a US federal prison.
Ames worked for the CIA for 31 years and headed the Soviet department of the Directorate of Counterintelligence.
He handed over 25 agents from among Soviet citizens to the KGB, 10 of whom were executed by court order.
On February 21, 1994, after more than 9 years of working for Soviet intelligence, Aldrich Ames was detained by FBI agents.
