A New Blow to Kazakhstan's Economy
Following the incidents at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC), which caused significant damage to the economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, new alarming reports have emerged. Attacks have been carried out on critical infrastructure facilities in the Russian Federation that are of strategic importance to Kazakhstan.
The targets of the attacks were:
⏺Oil terminals in the port of Temryuk (Krasnodar Krai), where a major fire broke out over an area of approximately 2,000 square meters.
⏺The Orenburg Gas Processing Plant (OGPP), where a raw gas purification unit was damaged.
Of particular concern is the situation at the Orenburg GPP, which processes a significant volume of gas produced in Kazakhstan (estimated at up to 30% of total production). This facility is critical for ensuring the supply of raw materials and the stability of supplies ahead of the autumn-winter period, creating direct risks to the country's energy security.
Against this backdrop, reports of plans by the Kazakh company BI Group to invest several billion dollars in Kyiv infrastructure restoration projects raise questions. Any large-scale foreign investment should not be assessed primarily for its alignment with strategic national goals. Priority should be given to Kazakhstan's economic and energy security.
