it's not the seats who applause, but people who seat there. however, it can be used to highlight unity of their mind, driven by party

stream of rubbish - it's used to describe winston's mind. he pours his thoughts into his diary. tangled, wrong and scary, which author comparises with rubbish. these thoughts make his feel of sense "stained"

mouth opens like of a fish - person haven't got their own thoughts. mouth opens just as stupidly, as fish's

ecstasy of fear - it's a metaphor and antithesis. fear, like an ecstasy for some people. while majority of people perceive fear as something awful, some feel a rush of pleasure from it

guards of sanity in the world of lies - guards of sanity is the way author calls winston and goldstein and others, who are ready to riot. party, who have built story of the Ocenia on lie are being contrasted with characters, who carry the truth into society.

standing like a rock - a common comparison, used to show unwavering will of character.

beautiful hallucinations - hallucinations are affect of poisoned consciouness. but what he sees in these hallucinations are his desires. they are beautiful for him, but for the reader they are awful and disgusting

locked loneliness - закрытое одиночество. герой в своих убеждениях и отношении к партии одинок, но даже это одиночество приходится сковать, ведь он - часть общества, приверженцев Большого Брата.

character feels lonely in his thoughts, which are unshared. he has to hide his loneliness, since he's in party and he will be erased immediately, if someone finds out about his unloyalty.
