A lot of people in the world learn foreign languages. I am doing a project on studying foreign languages in Zetland. I have found a pie chart with the results of a survey conducted among Zetlanders. Now I am going to analyse the data and give my opinion on the subject of the project.
According to the pie chart, most respondents (42%) think that the number of students in a group matters most in learning a foreign language. 27% of the respondents are sure that a good teacher can help them most in it. 15% of them choose the option “Speaking practice opportunities”.
It is worth mentioning that the response “Speaking practice opportunities” (15%) is 5% more common than the response “Reading books in a foreign language” (10%). I find this surprising because, in my opinion, enlarging the vocabulary by reading books in the original is more important. It is necessary to learn a lot of words and speech patterns first, and then learners will be able to use them in their own speech.
Unfortunately, one can face a problem when self-studying a foreign language. They have no speaking practice. In order to solve this problem, learners can find native-speakers on the Internet who are ready to communicate with them.
In conclusion, I believe that a good teacher matters most in learning a foreign language. A good teacher helps to develop different skills, such as reading, writing, listening, speaking, gives advice on self-study, corrects mistakes.
